Mr. Bernard Allen Womack of Park Lane, South Boston died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was 71 years of age.
Mr. Womack was born in Halifax County on April 1, 1942 to the late Mr. Sherman Womack and Ms. Maude White.
His survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Janet Hamlett and Ms. Alice Womack, both of South Boston; one brother, Mr. Kenneth Womack, and wife Marilyn of Hagerstown, Md.; four grandchildren, Mr. Savaughn Bailey, Ms. Qiana Sanford, Mr. Keith Jackson and Mr. Bruce Jackson Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; one devoted cousin, Mr. Melvin Womack; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including the devoted Ms. Deborah Wells and Mr. Clarence Sydnor.
In addition to his parents, one daughter, Mrs. Edwina Sanford, and one brother, Mr. Walter L. Womack, also preceded Mr. Womack in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home chapel with Bishop Lawrence Burrell officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Garden Cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Mrs. Janet Hamlett, 700 Webster Street, South Boston.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
