Mrs. Lillian Olivia Guthrie Clark of 2124 Rev. Coleman Road, Clover, died on Friday, Nov. 22, at The Woodview in South Boston at the age of 92.
Mrs. Clark was born in Halifax County on Jan. 7, 1921 to the late Mr. Samuel Guthrie and Mrs. Mary Frances Vassar Guthrie. She was married to the late Mr. Beverly Clark and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church.
Mrs. Clark leaves to cherish precious memories of three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Mae Jones of Danville, Mrs. Ann Delores Coleman and Mrs. Dorothy Evonne Sydnor, both of Clover; four sons, Deacon Robert Guthrie and Deacon William Guthrie, both of South Boston, Mr. Beverly Clark of Cheverly, Ky. and Mr. James Clark of Saxe; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three daughters-in-law, Mrs. Laura Guthrie of South Boston, Mrs. Helen Clark of Cheverly, Ky. and Mrs. Shirley Clark of Saxe; three sons-in-law, Mr. Alvin Jones of Danville, Mr. Waverly Coleman and Mr. James Sydnor, both of Clover; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Rebecca Sights of Richmond and Mrs. Dorothy Clark of South Boston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by two children, Beverly Clark and Murphy Clark; six sisters, Lottie Mae, Lealia, Martha, Estella, Mary Louise and Annie Sue; five brothers,Edward, James Buck, Letcher, Herman “Dorsey” and Major.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Olivia Guthrie Clark will be Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at noon with services at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax.
Public viewing for Mrs. Clark will be Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at The Crawford House Chapel from 4 until 8 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. James and Mrs. Dorothy Sydnor, 5148 Black Walnut Road, Clover..
