Gloria Loraine Jeffress Stokes

Mrs. Gloria Loraine Jeffress Stokes of Scottsburg died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at her residence at the age of 53.

Mrs. Stokes was born in Halifax County on Jan. 23, 1960 to the Rev. Freddie Jeffress Sr. and Mrs. Edith Flenoury Jeffress. She was married to Mr. Cecil Demara Stokes and was a member of Spanish Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stokes is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Mr. Joel JeRon Jeffress and wife Nicole of Richmond and Mr. Jason LeMar Jeffress of Scottsburg; three stepchildren, Mr. Antwane Stokes and wife Paula of Waldorf, Md., Mr. Ephrian Stokes and Mrs. April Thompson and husband DeRone, all of Blackstone; eight grandchildren; her father and mother of Scottsburg; two sisters, Evangelist Vealer J. Staten and husband Ralph of South Boston and Mrs. Jane L. Marable and husband Joseph of Elizabeth City, N.C.; three brothers, Mr. Fred Jeffress and wife Yolanda of South Boston, Minister Gerald Jeffress of Fort Levenworth, Mo. and Mr. Rufus Jeffress and wife Angela of Scottsburg; one aunt, Mrs. Nettie Gracie Coleman, of Danville; her father-in-law, Mr. William Stokes; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Tanya Carol; one brother-in-law, Mr. Anthony Stokes; two adopted aunts, Mrs. Barbara Sledge and Mrs. Shirley Ross, both of Richmond; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends, including the devoted Ms. Donna Carr.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stokes will be Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Spanish Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie M. Womack officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home and all other times at the residence, 8103 MacDonald Road, Scottsburg.
