Mr. Cecil Gray Granger, 84, of 3077 Bellevue Road, Halifax, died Sunday, Nov. 3, at his home. He was born in Halifax County on March 18, 1929, the son of the late John Cabel Granger and Lens Clark Granger and was married to the late Kathleen Williams Granger. Mr. Granger was a member of Winns Creek Baptist Church and a 61-year member of American Legion Post 8.
His survivors include nieces, Clara Powell Carver of Halifax, Judy Granger Lorello of Midlothian and Sue Powell Edwards of Williamsburg; nephew Bill Granger of Halifax; and beloved friend Anne Jones of Halifax.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Justine Granger Powell, and by three brothers, Waverly, Ernest and Billy Granger.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Winns Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Kopko officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family received friends at Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
