Ethel Griffin Glasscock Winstead, age 89, formerly of Virgilina died Friday morning, Nov. 1, 2013, at Person Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Winstead was a native of Dinwiddie County, daughter of the late Charlie Gustadis and Sally Bett Tuck Griffin and wife of the late Morris “Pedro” Glasscock. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Carter and Brenda Stigall and husband Kent, all of Roxboro, N.C.; son James Glasscock of Creedmore, N.C.; brother Bailey Griffin and wife Ruth of Roxboro, N.C.; five grandchildren, Angie Sidden, Christy Bouer, Shallon Lenfestey, Brock Stigall and Brian Carter; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Winstead was preceded in death by two brothers, Spencer and Filmore Griffin; granddaughter Brandi Magin; a half brother, Russell Griffin; and two half sisters, Lillian Dunn and Eva Joyner.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Union Christian Church by the Rev. Norman Talley. Interment followed in the Glasscock Family Cemetery.
