Mr. Leonard Edward Powell of Clover died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at the home of his son.
He was born in Halifax County on May 19, 1952 and was 61 years old. He was the son of the late Leonard Calvin Powell and Mollie Alice Powell.
He was an employee by Sunshine Mills for 11 years.
Mr. Leonard Edward Powell is survived by one son, Shawn Edward Powell Sr., of Halifax; his daughter-in law, Paula Sherlin Powell, of Halifax; his grandson, Shawn Edward Powell Jr., of Halifax; special daughter and her daughter, Jenny Lynn Hazelwood and Trinity Ann Crews, of Halifax; three sisters, Libby Dale Hamilton and husband Melvin of Brookneal, Jannie Faye Walker and husband Paul of Alton and Jessie Mae Jones of Danville; three brothers, Hugh Preston (Bollie) Powell of Appomattox, William Danny Powell and wife Brenda of Clover and Jimmy Dion Powell and wife Renee of Halifax; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Harlow Shelton, and one granddaughter, Marrissa Mae Powell.
Graveside services with military rites for Mr. Leonard Edward Powell will be held Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Clover Cemetery with the Rev. David Rathel officiating. The family will receive friends at the Fork Baptist Church, Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Clyde and Anita Wilborn, 1166 Paul James Road, Halifax.
