Mrs. Mildred Hall Redd of 2208 Mountain Road, Halifax died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at her home. She was born Nov. 10, 1928 in Halifax County the daughter of the late John Edward Hall Sr. and Florence Ingram Hall. She was married to the late Eddie Thomas Redd.
Mrs. Redd was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Tommy Redd, of South Boston; two daughters, Emily Hodnett and Phyllis A. Stuart, both of Halifax; six grandchildren, the Rev. Dale Custer and wife Doris of Midlothian, Donna Hodnett of Java, Keith Redd and wife Beth of Roxboro, N.C., Tom Lewis and wife Teresa of Halifax, Kimberly Gordon and husband Scott of South Boston and Katelyn Redd of South Boston; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Pyle, of Halifax.
In addition to her husband and parents, one brother, J.E. Hall Jr., two sisters, Jenny Thaxton and Evelyn Farmer, and one great-grandchild, Rebekah Gordon, also preceded Mrs. Redd in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with the Revs. Dale Custer and Bill Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and other times at her home.
