Mrs. Parrie Lee Lipscomb Hodge of River Road, South Boston died Oct. 9, 2013, at her residence at the age of 91.
Mrs. Hodge was born in Halifax County on Dec. 5, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Mr. Phillip Lipscomb and Mrs. Betty Evans Stokes Lipscomb. She was married to the late Mr. Ernest Lee Hodge.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of News Ferry.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Yvonne H. Medley and husband David of South Boston and Mrs. Shirley H. Robinson and husband Larry of King George; one son, Mr. Wayne D. Hodge, of South Boston; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hodge was preceded in death by on son, Ernest E. Hodge; five sisters, Bessie Williams, Mattie Wilkins, Ethel Williams, Ella Jetters and Julia Owens; four brothers, Arthur and Oscar Stokes and Ellis and Junious Lipscomb.
Funeral services for Mrs. Parrie Lee Lipscomb Hodge will be held Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in News Ferry with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie L. Keene officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the residence, 6051 River Road, South Boston.
