Mrs. Mary Dixon Logan of Mallard Lane, South Boston died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at her residence at the age of 77.
Mrs. Logan was born in Halifax County on Aug. 7, 1936 to the late Mr. Beverly Thomas Dixon and Mrs. Mary Hundley Dixon. She was married to Mr. William Hoover Logan and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Ms. Lori G. Logan of South Boston; four sons, Mr. William S. Logan Jr. and wife Doris and Mr. Rodney W. Logan, all of South Boston, Mr. Stanley K. Logan of Richmond and Mr. Richard A. Logan of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Mr. Lancy C. Dixon, and wife Martha of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a host of nieces, including Ms. Althea Hall and Ms. Gwendolyn Dixon, whom she raised, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, one daughter, Ms. Renita G. Logan, one grandson, three sisters, Mrs. Reubenia D. Worsham, Ms. Lettie K. Dixon and Mrs. Bessie D. Marable; and three brothers, Mr. Thomas Dixon, Mr. Acie D. Dixon and Mr. William D. Dixon, also preceded Mrs. Logan in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie N. Yancey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1015 Mallard Lane, South Boston.
