Debra Crouch Walker of South Boston died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County, N.C. on Dec. 28, 1951 and was 61 years of age. She was the daughter of Lacy B. Crouch Jr. and Rose Roberson Crouch.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Wayne Walker, and a grandson, Alex Carter.
Her survivors include one son, James Irvin Carter Jr. and wife April of Vernon Hill; her mother and father of South Boston; one sister, Sandy Ratcliff and husband David of Wilmington, N.C.; one half-brother, Ike Cobb and wife Barbara of Elm City, N.C.; one granddaughter, Taylor Carter of Vernon Hill; her nephews, Carson and Casey Ratcliff of Wilmington, and Roy Rock of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; and her best friends, Debbie Hackney and Peggy Daniel, both of South Boston, and Carol Thomas of Halifax.
Funeral services for Mrs. Walker will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Vance Midgett officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Christian Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Friday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home, 509 Greenway Drive, South Boston.
