Harry Lee Carden

Harry Lee Carden, age 87, of 11965 U.S. Hwy. 29, Chatham died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at his residence. He was born March 10, 1926 in Halifax County, the son of the late Charlie F. Carden and the late Mamie Nichols Carden.

He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church.  

Mr. Carden was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. 

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Mason Carden, of the residence; three daughters, Susan C. Parker and husband Brad of Martinsville, Karen C. Crusberg and husband Keith of Newport News and Lora Lee Carden of Danville; one son, Samuel J. Carden, of Danville; four grandchildren, Wesley Crusberg, Clinton Crusberg, Cole Crusberg and Haley Parker; and one sister-in-law, Bernice Carden.

Funeral services were conducted at Scott Funeral Home chapel Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jon Woodburn officiating. Burial with military honors was at Highland Burial Park in Danville. 

The family received friends at Scott Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, one hour prior to the funeral service and other times at the residence. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Oakland United Methodist Church. 

Scott Funeral Home in Chatham is serving the Carden family.
