Ms. Shirley Bell Coleman of Alexandria, formerly of South Boston, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Alexandria Hospital at the age of 60.
Ms. Coleman was born in Halifax County on Oct. 20, 1952 to the late Mr. William Tucker and Mrs. Viola Throbbs Tucker. She was a former member of St. Mark Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Cheryl M. Woody of South Boston and Ms. Beronica D. Jones of Lorton; three grandchildren, Kyara Jones, Veronta Jones and Dineya Jones, all of Lorton; one great-granddaughter, Dyora “Pootie” Jones, of Lorton; one sister, Ms. Hattie Stovall, of South Boston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the devoted Mr. Andrew James.
In addition to her parents, two brothers and two sisters also preceded Ms. Coleman in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 30, at noon at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Featherston officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence of Ms. Hattie Stovall, 1050 Bane Street, South Boston.
Public visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, Sept. 29, from noon until 6 p.m.
