Mr. Melvin David Greene of Clover died on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, N.C., at the age of 71.
Mr. Greene was born in Halifax County on Dec. 18, 1941 to the late Mr. Tom Greene and Mrs. Emma Collins Greene. He was married to Mrs. Jacqueline Coleman Greene and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church.
Mr. Melvin David Greene is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jacqueline Coleman Greene, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Sabrina L. Greene-Dixon and husband Alvin of Clover and Ms. Cheryl M. Greene of Prince George; one son, Mr. Andre M. Greene, of Petersburg; two grandchildren, Briana and Jalen; one brother, Mr. Carl Greene, and wife Katrina of Bronx, N.Y.; one sister in- law, Mrs. Mary Greene, of Baltimore, Md.; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Bessie Benton, Veola Scott, Gladys Sutton, Alice Pleasant and Mattie Wilborne; three brothers, Herman, Henry Lewis and William Otis Greene.
Funeral services for Mr. Melvin David Greene will be Saturday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew Baptist Church with the Rev. Alfred Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1121 Clover Road, Clover.
