Mrs. Eltea Stovall Overby, affectionately known as “Tea,” of West Oak Hill Drive, South Boston died Friday, Sept. 13, at her residence at the age of 82.
Mrs. Overby was born in Halifax County on Sept. 14, 1930 to the late Mr. David Stovall and Mrs. Irene Wood Stovall. She was married to the late Mr. Nathaniel Overby and was a member of St. Paul C.M.E Church.
Mrs. Eltea Stovall Overby is survived by her three children, Ms. Dorothy Stovall, Mr. Tony Overby and Ms. Annie Overby, all of her home; her granddaughter, Ms. Tori Bryant, of Norfolk; her sister, Mrs. Irene Edmonds, of South Boston; her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Hallie Stovall and Mrs. Van Terry, both of South Boston; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends including Ms. Raye Harrison.
In addition to her husband and parents, three sisters and five brothers preceded Mrs. Overby in death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Eltea “Tea” Stovall Overby will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul C.M.E Church with the Rev. George Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1090 West Oak Hill Drive, South Boston.
