Mrs. Sylvia Beatrice Patrick Clark Horton of Ridge Street, South Boston died Thursday, Aug. 15, at Berry Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 96.
Mrs. Horton was born in Halifax County on June 16, 1917 to the late Mr. Otie H. Patrick and Mrs. Mamie Guy Patrick. She was first married to the late Mr. John Clark and later married the late Mr. Earl Horton.
Mrs. Horton was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Gretna.
Mrs. Horton is survived by one son, Mr. William “JT” Clark, and wife Ann of South Hampton, N.J.; one daughter, Ms. Irene Brown, of Clifton Heights, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Audrey Patrick Adams, of Nathalie, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Mamie Clark Winslow; two grandchildren, Ms. Michelle Winslow and Mr. William “Nat” Clark; and nine siblings.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Beatrice Patrick Clark Horton will be Saturday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven E. Taylor and the Rev. Robert P. King officiating.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1624 Ridge Street, South Boston. Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Crawford House chapel in Halifax.
