Ola Mae Thompson Walden, 91, of 9001 Bill Tuck Hwy., Virgilina died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at The Woodview. She was born in Rowan County, N.C. on Jan. 19, 1922, the daughter of the late Jason M. Thompson and Nina Brotherton Thompson and was married to the late Phillip M. Walden Sr.
Mrs. Walden was a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church and was a retired textile worker with J.P. Stevens.
Survivors include one son, Phillip M. Walden Jr. and wife Brenda of Lillington, N.C.; one brother, Presley Thompson, and wife Gladys of Richmond; three sisters, Mary Smith of Richmond, Evelyn Tuck and husband Mark of Crewe and Christine Bowen of South Boston; two grandsons, Marvin Walden and wife Vicky and Ansel Walden and wife Analeah; three great-grandchildren, Dustin Walden, Olivia Walden and Nicky Pope; and one great-great-grandchild, Blakely Capps.
Seven brothers and sisters also preceded Mrs. Walden in death.
Funeral services will be held at Aarons Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joe McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
