Ms. Kathryn W. Hall Lassiter, affectionately known as “Mother Lassiter” or “Winnie,” of Cherry Hill Church Road, South Boston died Friday, July 12, 2013, at duke University Medical Center at the age of 78.
Ms. Lassiter was born in Halifax County on May 14, 1935 to the late Mr. Crews Schelley Hall and Mrs. Mary E. Carrington Hall. She was a member of Prayer of Faith in Milton, N.C.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kathryn G. Lassiter Brooks and husband Nathan, of South Boston; four sons, Mr. Louis Lassiter of Clinton, Md., Mr. Michael Lassiter and wife Arron, of Cluster Springs, Mr. Cornelius Lassiter and wife, Lisa of Yanceyville, N.C. and Bishop Nathaniel Lassiter and wife Zerlene, of Statesville, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Ms. Monica (Brazee) Thompson of Vienna, Ms. Naomi Rose of Alexandria; two brothers, Mr. Harold S. Hall and wife Sallie of Clinton, Md., and Mr. Schelley L. Hall and wife Alice Faye of Arlington; one brother-in-law, Mr. George Tuck of Roxboro, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, adopted family, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Ms. Lassiter was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Ruth Tuck and Mrs. Reba Jewell Thompson; two brothers, Mr. Chester Carrington “Bro” Hall, and Mr. Norman W. “Bo” Hall.
Funeral services for Ms. Kathryn W. Hall Lassiter will be Saturday, July 20 at 1p.m. at Whit e Stone Pentecostal Church, Sutherlin. Burial will follow in Morning Star Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1191 Cherry Hill Church Road, South Boston.
