Mr. Walter Dwight Waller Sr. of 1050 Carriage End Way, South Boston died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on May 31, 1948 and was 65 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodman Waller and Gladys Walker Waller, and he is survived by his wife, Mitzie Overby Waller.
Mr. Waller was a member of Seven Oaks Baptist Church and the National Organization of Building Officials.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Walter Dwight Waller Jr., of South Boston; one daughter, April Dawn Warf and Stacy of South Boston; grandchildren, Hunter D. Waller, Hannah L. Waller, Bryson D. Warf and Breanna D. Warf; his stepson, Frederick R. Coates Jr. and Pam of Danville; his step-grandchildren Thomas R. Coates, Travis A. Coates and Nicole L. Coates; one brother, Jimmy Waller, and Sylvia of Nathalie; five sisters, Janice Moore and Steve, Shelby Powell and special friend Bill, Deborah Moorefield and Mike, Sylvia Edmonds and Daniel, and Donna Bryant and David, all of Nathalie; one sister-in-law, Starr P. Waller and special friend Wayne of Halifax; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Roger “Jack” Waller and Oscar “Pete” Waller; one sister, Brenda Lee Waller; and one brother-in-law, Troy Powell, also preceded Mr. Waller in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 28, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Seven Oaks Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy McMillan officiating. Burial will follow in Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church for two hours prior to the service and other times at the home.
