Mrs. Mary Rachael Canada Coleman of South Boston died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at The Woodview at the age of 78.
Mrs. Coleman was born in Halifax County on July 9, 1934 to the late Mr. Charles Edward Canada and Mrs. Carrie Jennings Canada. She was married to the late Mr. Lacy Barley Coleman and was a member of Wesley Chapel CME Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Rosa Terry, of Halifax; one son, Mr. Henry Canada, of Halifax; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ms. Georgie Jennings, of Halifax; two brothers, Nr. Hunter Canada of Greensboro, N.C. and Mr. Willie Canada of Halifax; one sister-in-law, Ms. Mary Ellen Coleman, of South Boston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the devoted Mrs. Deloise Petty and Mrs. Catherine Chandler.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by one son, Mr. Charles Canada; two sisters, Ms. Rosa Canada and Ms. Dorothy Canada; and three brothers, Mr. Lewis Canada, Mr. James Canada and Mr. Freddy Canada.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Rachael Canada Coleman will be Saturday, May 25, at 2 p.m. at Wesley Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Keith Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Mr. Henry Canada, 7043 L.P. Bailey Memorial Highway in Halifax. Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
