Abner “Dixon” Barley, 90, of Bassett passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem N.C. He was born in Java on Nov. 25, 1922, the son of the late Morrison Barley Jr. and the late Vannie Farmer Barley. In addition, he was preceded in death by his wives, Mathilda Mae Boelte Barley and Margaret Lawson Hundley Barley; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his children and their spouses, Steve and wife Kathryn Barley of Richmond, Judy and husband William Scott Jr. of Clover, and Linda and husband Luther Barham of Winston Salem, N.C.; step-son, James Hundley of Florida; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Wisner of Georgia and Rebecca Adkins of Chatham.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, from 11-12 in the chapel of Bassett Funeral Service with funeral services to follow at 12 with Dr. Joey McNeill and the Rev. Tony Beach.
Burial will follow in Henry Memorial Park.
