Mrs. Mamie Buster Reid of Coles Ferry Road, Nathalie died on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at her residence at the age of 94.
Mrs. Reid was born in Halifax County on March 29, 1919 to the late Mr. William Alan Buster and Mrs. Polina Garrett Buster. She was married to the late Mr. William Cleveland Reid. She joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist church at a young age and later became a dedicated witness of Jehovah.
Mrs. Mamie Buster Reid leaves to cherish her memories one son, Mr. James Edward Reid and wife Ruth of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Lula Mae Barksdale of Nathalie; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosa Buster of South Boston; a devoted God daughter, Ms. Janis Chandler and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Mrs. Virginia Jones. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Augusta C. Barley; one sister, Mrs. Mary Canada; three brothers, Mr. James Buster, Mr. Paul Buster and Mr. Roosevelt Buster.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Buster Reid will be held Tuesday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at The Crawford House in Halifax. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Mrs. Lula Mae Barksdale, 8106 Coles Ferry Road, Nathalie, Va. Public visitation will be Monday, May 12 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax.
