Mr. Louis Edward Martin of Dryburg Road, Scottsburg died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 64.
Mr. Martin was born in Halifax County on May 14, 1948 and was the son of the late Mr. Lewis Martin and Mrs. Verba King Martin. He was married to Mrs. Frances Carden Martin and was a former Burlington Industries supervisor.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances C. Martin, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Kimbley Syms, and husband Harold of Winston Salem, N.C.; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Green and husband Walter of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Evelyn Miller and husband Bishop John A. Miller and Mrs. Gladys Massenburg, all of South Boston; three brothers, Wilbur Martin and wife Rogers Ann of Halifax, Mr. Michael Martin of South Boston and Mr. Reginald Martin and wife JoAnn of Halifax;
one aunt, Mrs. Edith K. Owen, of Halifax; one sister-in-law, Mrs, Anthonette Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Banks and Cedric Martin, and two sisters, Hazel Jones and Vernell Edmonds.
Funeral services for Mr. Louis Edward Martin will be held Thursday, May 2, at 11 a.m. with services at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax with Bishop Anthony Miller officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence, 5011 Dryburg Road, Scottsburg. Public viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel.
