Betty Gail (Muse) Jordan, age 62, was called home to be with the Lord on April 25, 2013 after a brief illness.
She was the daughter of the late Iretha and Louis Muse of Halifax.
Betty taught in the Halifax County School system for two years prior to coming to Frederick County. Betty was a dedicated teacher with the Frederick County Public School system for 37 years. During her tenure at Walkersville Elementary School she positively affected the lives of countless young people, and also her coworkers. She received many awards for her diligence and dedication.
Betty was a longtime member of New Zion Baptist Church in Meadville. She was also a faithful attendee of Quinn AME Chapel in Frederick, Md. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Betty attended St Paul College in Lawrenceville, where she received her B.S. degree. She did her graduate work at various institutions of higher learning in Virginia and Maryland.
Betty is survived by two sons, Levar Edmonds Jordan and Olock Dominic Jordan and wife Cari of Frederick, Md. She is also survived by the joy of her life, her grandson, Olock Dominic Jordan Jr., along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty leaves behind eight siblings, three sisters, Lois Wallace, Geraldine Davis and Yetta Patterson; five brothers, Tyrone Muse, Theodore Muse, Dwight Muse, Kevin Muse and Eric Muse. She will be remembered fondly by a lifelong special friend, Marshal Arter.
The family received friends on Wednesday May 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 6430 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, Md. The funeral will be held Saturday, with viewing at noon and services at 1 p.m., at New Zion Baptist Church 7107 Chatham Road, Nathalie. Arrangements are by Dunn and Sons Funeral Home of Washington, D.C.
