Jinny Gebhart, born Virginia Lovelace Cole, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at the Bonnie Bluejacket Nursing Home where she resided for the past three and half years.
She was born Jan. 19, 1919 in Halifax County to John Lovelace Cole and Elizabeth Lovelace Cole. She was the youngest of seven children and was raised in Virginia and was a true “Southern Belle.”
She married Earl (Eddie) Gebhart on Feb. 22, 1947, which brought her out west to Wyoming. Her Mamma always thought there was no indoor plumbing and hesitated for her baby to come west but once living here, her family all showed up and loved it as much as Jinny did.
Jinny is survived by two daughters, Jinny Lynn Downing of Centennial, Col., and Janet Johnson (Jeff) of Greybull, Wyo.; one son, Jerry Gebhart (Linda) of Wheatland; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Mable Barnes, and several nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to Big Horn Federal, P.O. Box 471, Greybull, Wyoming 82426. Proceeds to go the Presbyterian Church in Greybull, Wyoming.
