Dr. Phillip Dale Ward, M. D. of Buffalo Junction died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at his home. He was born in Huntington, W. Va. on June 16, 1947 and was 65 years of age.
He was the son of the late Richard Hardwick Ward and is survived by his mother, Beatrice Booton Ward.
Dr. Ward was well known as a doctor of obstetrics/gynecology with Fuller Roberts Clinic in South Boston and was a medical examiner for Halifax County. He was involved with youth wrestling, high school wrestling, former member of the South Boston Sertoma Club, a member of the Union Ruritan Club and an avid fisherman.
Dr. Ward is survived by his wife, Patricia Warren Ward, of South Boston; two sons, Daniel Ethan Ward and wife Sara of St. Marys, Ga., and Joseph Benjamin Ward and wife Beth of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Rick Ward, of Clayton, N.C.; four grandchildren, Bianca and Richard Ward of St. Marys, Ga., and Wyatt and Cole Ward of Atlanta, Ga.
A celebration of life service for Dr. Phillip Dale Ward will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 5 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Russell Lee officiating.
