Mr. James Richard Sydnor, 68, of Buffalo Junction entered eternal rest Sunday April 7, 2013, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Durham, N.C.
Mr. Sydnor was born July 21, 1944 in Richmond to the late Richard Sydnor Sr. and Ella Watkins Sydnor Royster. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County and continued his education at Saint Paul’s College, Lawrenceville. Mr. Sydnor was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran. He was a retired supervisor from ABB in South Boston.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sydnor was preceded in death by his stepfather, William Royster; four sisters, Barbara Sydnor Bentley, Gloria Sydnor Gregory, Ruby Sydnor Wynn and Annella Avon Royster; and his brother, Marshall Royster Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Sydnor, of Buffalo Junction; two sons, James Richard Sydnor Jr. (Rachael L. Boone), of Raleigh, N.C. and Michael Quinn Sydnor (Ann ) U.S. Army, South Korea; one daughter, Pamela Joy Sydnor, of Buffalo Junction; one sister, Wilmer Sydnor Gross, of College Park, Md.; three grandsons, Marques James, Javier De’Andre and Torrence Joel Sydnor; one granddaughter, Peyton Nicole Sydnor; three aunts, one uncle and a vast number of loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Sydnor will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St Mark Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction with Pastor Derrick Horton, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
