Mr. Tyrone Gregory Strange Sr. of South Boston died April 7, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 67.
Mr. Strange was born in South Boston on Jan. 24, 1946 and was the son of Mrs. Ruth Carrington Strange and the late Mr. Augusta Strange Sr. He was married to Mrs. Agnes Marie Foster Strange and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Mr. Strange was a retired employee of AT&T and upon returning to South Boston, he was employed by Dominos Pizza.
Mr. Strange is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes Strange; three children, Mrs. Mildred Ballenger of Upper Marlboro, Md., Bishop Tyrone Strange Jr. and wife Pamela of Troutman, N.C. and Mr. Brian Strange and wife Tacoma of Germantown, Md.; nine grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Ruth C. Strange, of South Boston; one sister, Mrs. Eloise Stanfield, and husband, John of Rocky Mount; one brother, Mr. Augusta Strange Jr., and wife Gladys of South Boston; six sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Strange will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013, at noon at Trinity Baptist Church with the Bishop Tyrone Strange II officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Garden Cemetery.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
