Robert McKenzie Hubbard Jr., 94, of Nathalie passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bertha Berry Hubbard.
Mr. Hubbard was born in Halifax County on Jan. 19, 1919 son of the late Robert M. Hubbard Sr. and Ella Carr Hubbard. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in five campaigns: Sicily, Italy, France and Germany, and he was a retired construction superintendent.
He is survived by two daughters, Joan H. Haynes of Bryans Road, Md., and Elaine H. Phelps (Dickie) of Nathalie; five grandchildren, Brian Haynes (Laura) of Brandywine, Md., Linda P. Noe (Jim) of Cold Spring, Ky., Darlene Haynes of Waldorf, Md., Pauline Dyson (John) of Waldorf, Md., Lori Phelps (Ed Grossman) of Clinton, Md.; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Andrew Schulze with interment to follow at St. Andrews Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites at the grave.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal.
