Mr. Edward Nathaniel Brooks of Washington, D.C. and formerly of Halifax County died April 2, 2013 at United Medical Center in Washington, D.C. at the age of 74.
Mr. Brooks was born in Clover on Jan. 8, 1939 and was the son of the late Rev. Hubbie Lynwood Brooks and Mrs. Louise Virginia Prince Brooks. He was married to Mrs. Eliza Lacks Brooks and at an early age joined Bethel Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Brooks was a United States Air Force veteran and was a retired policeman.
Mr. Edward Nathaniel Brooks is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eliza L. Brooks; two sons, Mr. Edward N. Brooks Jr. and wife Karen of Washington, D.C. and Mr. Lenwood Brooks and wife Monique; two sisters, Ms. Lois Brooks of Baltimore, Md. and Ms. Joyce Brooks of Chesapeake; one brother, Mr. Sherman Brooks, of Clover; four grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ms. Brenda Lacks, of Clover; two brothers-in-law, Mr. Alexander Lacks of New Haven, Conn. and Mr. Waverly Lacks of Clover; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. Lynwood Brooks.
Funeral services for Mr. Edward Nathaniel Brooks will be held Tuesday, April 9, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #99.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
