Mrs. Emma Lovelace Tucker of Wilmington, Del., formerly of Halifax County, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the age of 101.
Mrs. Tucker was born in Halifax County on Sept. 15, 1911 to the late Mr. James ‘Jim’ Lovelace and Mrs. Carrie Jennings Lovelace and was married to the late Mr. Joseph ‘Joe’ Tucker. She was a member of Millstone Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Stovall, and husband Gus of Wilmington, Del.; one son, Mr. Willie Payne Tucker, and his wife, the Rev. Dr. Ann ‘Button’ Tucker of Wilmington; one sister, Mrs. Janie Lovelace Williams, of South Boston; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Tucker and Mrs. Katherine Tucker, both of Halifax; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a devoted friend, Ms. Ann Womack.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tucker will be held Saturday, April 6, at 1 p.m. at Millstone Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Crews officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday. Public viewing will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Crawford House chapel in Halifax.
