Mrs. Mrs. Eliza Olean Harris Farrar of Nathalie died Monday, March 25, at her residence at the age 98.
Mrs. Farrar was born in Halifax County on Feb. 27, 1915 to the late Mr. Lee Harris and Mrs. Emma Belle Coleman Harris. She was married to the late Mr. Van Wesley Farrar and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
Mrs. Farrar is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Emma Wilkerson of Halifax, Mrs. Rosa Dunkley of Arlington, Mrs. Lucy Penick of North Carolina, Mrs. Laura Venable and husband John Henry of South Boston and Mrs. Cluster Davies and husband Darrell of Upper Marlboro, Md.; one son, Mr. Howard Harris of Nathalie; 38 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ennis Harris, of Fredericksburg; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Alice Harris of Alexandria and Mrs. Janice Farrar of Nathalie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Farrar was preceded in death by one son, Earl Rudolph Harris; three brothers, James, Wilson and Carl Harris; one sister, Laura Randall.
Funeral services for Mrs. Farrar will be Friday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Nathalie with Rev. James E. Traynham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1057 Lower Liberty Road, Nathalie.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Crawford House chapel in Halifax.
