Mr. Willie Cyrus Hill Sr. (affectionately known as “Willie Sims”) of Gloucester, formerly of Halifax County, died Saturday, March 23, at his residence at the age of 81.
Mr. Hill was born in Halifax County on Nov. 16, 1931, and was the son of the late Mr. Joe Hill and Mrs. Rosa Belle Moore Hill. He was married to Mrs. Betty Tidwell Hill and was formerly employed by the County of Halifax.
In addition to his wife of 23 years, survivors include four children, Mr. Willie Hill Jr. and fiancé Ms. Jennea Green, Mr. Edmond Malechek Jr. and wife Betsy, Mrs. Heather Adams and husband Dantavius and Ms. Crystal Malechek and fiancé Mr. Richard Patrick; 11 grandchildren including the devoted Devin Adams; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Womack, Ms. Janie Hill and Mrs. Dorothy Ballard, all of Trenton, N.J.; two brothers, Mr. Edward Hill and Mr. Leroy Hill, both of Trenton; and a host of nieces and nephews including the devoted Ms. Katrina Harris, Ms. Mary A. Harris, Mr. Ras T. Harris and Mr. Charlie W. Harris. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Belle Harris, Mildred Jackson and Thelma McWorther; and three brothers, Robert, David and Junior Hill.
Funeral services for Mr. Hill will be held Friday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Evon Bush officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at 1130 Wilson Memorial Trail, Vernon Hill.
