Mrs. Maggie Elnora Clark Hicks of Pineview Lane, Scottsburg died March 2, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 90.
Mrs. Hicks was born in Halifax County on March 11, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Mr. Louis Clark and Mrs. Sallie Coleman Clark. She was married to the late Mr. Patrick H. Hicks and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Patricia E. Warner and husband Esau, Mrs. Kathleen Walters and husband John and Mrs. Juanita Hicks-Howard and husband Tyrone, all of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Sallie Temple and husband Robert of Clinton, Md.; two sons, Mr. Willie James Hicks and wife Margaret and Mr. Curtis L. Hicks, both of Scottsburg; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Millie Ann Frances Chappell; one son-in-law, Mr. Clinton Wade Crew; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mattie R. Drewery, Mrs. Mary R. Hicks, Mrs. Alberta E. Clark and Mrs. Juanita C. Hicks; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, including the devoted Etta Meckins, Joyce Hayes, Robin McDonald, Oliver Clark, James Clark, Alonzo Clark, Larry Coles, Jesse Buster, Delores Turner, Louella Dozier, Sheryl Fleming, Catherine Edmonds and Rodney J. Hicks.
In addition to her husband and parents, one daughter, Eva Rebecca Crews, one sister, Lilye Coles, and two brothers, William O. Clark and James R. Clark, also preceded Mrs. Hicks in death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hicks will be held Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Whitfield Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 1161 Pineview Lane, Scottsburg.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
