Mrs. Louise Glass Lester of Halifax died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at her home. She was born June 27, 1932 in Halifax County.
She was the daughter of the late Norman Glass and Recie Ann King Glass and was married to the late James T. Lester Sr. She was a member of the New Harvest Assembly of God.
Mrs. Lester is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Wieringo of Scottsburg, Vicki Hooper of Halifax and Janet Inge of South Boston; one son, James T. Lester Jr., of Palmdale, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Josh Lester, Nick Lester, Rebecca Lester, Bryant Inge, Sarah Inge, Jessica Hooper and Caleb Hooper; two brothers, Roy “Woody” Glass and Myrtle of Halifax and Noel Glass and Margaret of Halifax; one sister, Shirley Saunders, of Halifax; a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Carrie Midkiff, Janie Daniel and Barbara Ann Viar; three brothers, Acie Glass, Hampton Glass and Thomas Glass.
A graveside service for Mrs. Lester will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Fielding Cage officiating. A memorial service will be held on the same day at 1 p.m. at the New Harvest Assembly of God with the Rev. Fielding Cage and the Rev. Kevin Milkarek conducting the service.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Janet Inge, 500 Cheverly Drive, South Boston, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
