Hayward Lenzy Tucker was born May 27, 1919 in Halifax County to the late William Armstead and Sallie Bradley Tucker.
He quietly slipped away March 4, 2013 from his Logan Road residence with his family at his side.
Hayward Tucker leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 64 years, Panthelia; sons William Howard (Joyce) and Donald Gerald Tucker of Java; daughter Veroncia T. Hamlin (Lloyd) of Henrico; devoted family member Sandra Tucker of South Boston; adopted sons, Reginal D. Coles of Harrisonburg and Bryant Coles of Afghanistan; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Retha T. Marable of South Boston and Rosetta T. Boyer of Willingsboro, N. J.; brother–in-law Gene Coleman of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Edward Tucker; sisters Mable T. Harris, Mattie T. Dixon, Norva T. Barley and Lillian Tucker; and adopted son Thomas Freeman.
Funeral services for Hayward Tucker will be Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Elkhorn Baptist Church in Nathalie with the Pastor Dr. C. Lewis Motley presiding.
