Mr. William Dean ‘Wild Bill’ Owen of South Boston died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at his home. He was born in Halifax County on March 8, 1946 and was 66 years old. He was the son of the late Willie Fuller Owen and the late Gertrude Nichols Owen.
Mr. Owen was of the Baptist faith.
His survivors include one sister, Levern Owen Hazelwood and husband Richard of Halifax; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Four sisters, Gracie Owen Douglas, Mildred Owen Moser, Marian Parker Owen and Carolyn Owen Snow; three brothers, Lawrence Fuller Owen, Kenneth Calvin Owen and Alfred Simmon Owen; and his fiancé, Marie Jenkins, also preceded Mr. Owen in death.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Clover Cemetery with the Revs. Gary Brummitt and Rick Stigle officiating.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of his sister, Levern Hazelwood, 2161 James D. Hagood Hwy., South Boston.
