Mrs. Georgia Lacks Coleman Davis of Black Walnut Road, Saxe died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at her residence at the age of 90.
Mrs. Davis was born in Halifax County on May 3, 1922 to the late Mr. Ben Anderson Lacks and Mrs. Mary Coleman Lacks. She was first married to the late Mr. James A. Coleman and later married Mr. Ernest Hudson Davis Sr. and was a member of Bethel Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, Mr. Ernest Davis Sr., of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Mitchell, and husband Moses of Randallstown, Md.; one son, Mr. George Alfred Coleman, and wife Mary Jane of Crystal Hill; five grandchildren, Mrs. Shenell DeAllfordi and husband Pierre, Mrs. Tammy Vice and husband Shelton, Mr. Dennis Coleman and wife Susan, Mrs. Danielle Martinez and husband Keith, and Mrs. Denise Mason and husband Walter; six great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; one sister, Ms. Thurla Lacks, of Saxe; three brothers, Mr. Emerson Lacks of Saxe, Mr. Harry Lacks of Harlem, N.Y. and Mr. Marcelis Lacks and wife Gloria of Lynchburg; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Christine Lacks, of Saxe; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by one son, Mr. James H. Coleman Jr., one sister, Mrs. Eliza Richardson, and four brothers, Mr. Evergie Lacks, Mr. Ben Lacks, Mr. John Henry Lacks and Mr. Sydney Lacks.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at residence, 5211 Black Walnut Road, Saxe.
