Mr. Michael Irving Anderson of Halifax died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at his home with his wife, Judy, of 40-1/2 years by his side. He was born in Halifax County on Feb. 9, 1950 and was 63 years of age. He was the son of the late E. Irving Anderson and Mabel Landrum Anderson and was married to Judith Smith Anderson, who survives.
Mr. Anderson was a Mason with the Halifax Lodge where he was past Master, and a former member of Center United Church of Christ. Mr. Anderson was employed for over 30 years with the Virginia Department of Agriculture as Weights and Measures Regulatory inspector and Feed, Seed and Fertilizer Commodities inspector.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one sister, Carole A. Lacks of South Boston; one aunt, Jean Landrum Guthrie, of South Boston; one sister-in-law, Susan Woody, and husband Ed of Scottsburg; two brothers-in-law, Steve Smith and wife Sandy of Nathalie, and Paul Smith of Newport News; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Runt and Diane Powell.

A celebration of life will be held at Beth Car Baptist Church on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Paul Buckman, the Rev. Randy Holmes and the Rev. Dr. Michael Parnell officiating.
