Mr. Thomas Walter Stubblefield of South Boston died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Meadowview Terrace in Clarksville.
He was born in Butler, Mo. on Feb. 15, 1918 and was 95 years of age.
He was the son of the late William Thomas Stubblefield and Reva Thomas Stubblefield and was married first to the late Virginia Cotter Stubblefield and then to Dora West Whitlow Stubblefield, who survives.
Mr. Stubblefield was of the Presbyterian faith. During World War II, Tom served in the Pacific aboard the Destroyer USS Dewey and at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., where he taught marine engineering. After the war he was employed by Standard Oil of Indiana and later as an engineer with Westinghouse until his retirement.
In addition to his wife of South Boston, survivors include one daughter, Dr. Sara Patricia Stubblefield, of Westerville, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Nancy W. Wright and husband Clarence of Midlothian and Rebecca Lynn Whitlow of Coatesville, Pa.; two stepsons, Tee W. Whitlow and wife Susan of Chesterfield and David B. Whitlow and wife Lisa of Alton; five step-grandchildren; one nephew and two nieces.
One brother, Earl Paul Stubblefield, also preceded Mr. Stubblefield in death.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
