Ms. Renita Gay Logan of Midway Park, N.C., formerly of Halifax County, died Feb. 23 at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, N.C. at the age of 53.
Ms. Logan was born in Halifax County on Feb. 4, 1960, and was the daughter of Mr. William Hoover Logan and Mrs. Mary Dixon Logan. She was human resource director at Coastal Carolina Community College and attended Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Jacksonville, N.C.
Ms. Logan is survived by one son, Mr. Samuel Lee Rivers II of Raleigh, N.C.; her parents of South Boston; one sister, Ms. Lori G. Logan of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, Mr. William S. Logan Jr. and wife Doris of South Boston, Mr. Stanley K. Logan of Richmond, Mr. Rodney W. Logan of South Boston, and Mr. Michael A. Logan of Atlanta; one uncle, Mr. Lancy C. Dixon and wife Martha of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Finney of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Logan will be Thursday, Feb. 28, at noon at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie N. Yancey and Elder Bernard Marable officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Logan, 1015 Mallard Lane, South Boston.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston.
