Gladys Yancey Franklin of 1052 John B. Scott Trail, Scottsburg passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 78.
Mrs. Franklin was born in Halifax County on Dec. 20, 1934 to the late Walter H. Yancey and Gertrude Lane and was married to the late Robert M. Franklin Sr.
She was a retired weaver from J.P. Stevens and a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Franklin is survived by two daughters, Judy Rash of South Boston and Hope Riddle and husband Ronnie of South Boston; two sons, Robbie Franklin and wife Susan of Scottsburg and Ricky Franklin and wife Paula of Chesterfield; two brothers, Lloyd Yancey and wife Juanita of Ringgold and Harold Dean Yancey and wife Brenda of Madison Heights; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Franklin Sr.; her parents, Walter H. Yancey and Gertrude Lane; one sister, Barbara Ray and brother Walter H. Yancey Jr.
Visitation for Gladys Yancey Franklin was held at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and at other times at the home of Robbie and Susan Franklin, 1044 John B. Scott Trail, Scottsburg.
Services will be held Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Glenwood United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bob Woodfin and Walter Harold Yancey officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood United Methodist Church cemetery.
