Hallie ‘Annie’ Fleming Welcher, 95, of 7160 Bill Tuck Highway, South Boston, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Berry Hill Health and Rehab. She was born in Massachusetts on Dec. 8, 1917 to the late Walter Fleming and the late Bessie Kanney Fleming. She was married to the late Floyd Calvin Welcher Sr.
Mrs. Welcher was a retired factory worker with Craddock and Terry. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy W. Gray, of Burlington, N.C.; three grandsons, Michael Welcher and wife Denise of Virgilina, Ronald Welcher of Capron and W.R. ‘Chip’ Welcher Jr. and wife Kim of Virgilina; two granddaughters, Priscilla Agioni and husband Barry of Moneta and Judy Deal and husband Tony of Virgilina; two step-granddaughters, Stacy Snead of Virgilina and Kelly Price and husband Mark of Ringgold; one step-grandson, Craig Bray and wife Lisa of Lynchburg; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, two sons, Floyd Calvin Welcher Sr. and William Riley Welcher Sr.; and her foster parents, Riley and Sally Hailey, also preceded Mrs. Welcher in death.
The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of her grandson, Chip Welcher, 7150 Bill Tuck Highway, Virgilina.
Funeral services for Mrs. Welcher will be at Grace Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Jack Stewart and Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
