Mrs. Helen Rhodenhizer Whitlow Cliborne of South Boston died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Duke University Medical Center. She was born in Campbell County on June 18, 1924 and was 88 years of age.
Mrs. Cliborne was the daughter of the late Walker Brooks Rhodenhizer and Preston Gravitt Rhodenhizer Clark. She was a member of Florence Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Gayle Nelson and husband Jimmy of Virgilina, Carolyn West and Ronnie of Roxboro, N.C., Shelia W. Throckmorton and friend Max Perez of Greensville, S.C. and Kay Comer and friend Ted Moore of Hurdle Mills, N.C.; six grandchildren, Phil Long, Wendy Solomon, Terri West, Mitch Throckmorton, Malisa Bowen and Jeffrey Comer; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, John Rhodenhizer and Vera of Lynchburg; and a special friend, Lorene Wade.
In addition to her parents, two brothers, Owen and Henry Rhodenhizer, also preceded Mrs. Cliborne in death.
Funeral services will be held at Florence Avenue Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Allen Boggs and David Rhodenhizer officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Gayle and Jimmy Nelson, 9556 Hwy. 49, Virgilina on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
