William Loftis Satterfield of 5134 Huell Matthews Highway, South Boston died Jan. 22, 2013 at the age of 75. Mr. Satterfield was born Feb. 14, 1937 in Halifax County.
Mr. Satterfield was a retired employee of Halifax County Public School System. He was a member of Trinity Congregational Holiness Church. He was a member of the electoral board, the board of retired teachers and a former board member of the Halifax County/South Boston Museum.
Mr. Satterfield was a Sunday school teacher, church organist and church secretary.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Brown Satterfield, of South Boston; sister Betty Jean Gurley of Goldsboro, N.C.; five brothers, Benton Satterfield, Kenneth Satterfield, Norwood Satterfield and Charlie Satterfield, all of Goldsboro, N.C., and Freddie Satterfield of Wilson, N.C.; two stepsons, Michael Allen of Gretna and Darrin Allen of Winston Salem, N.C.; stepdaughter Kimberly Bullis of Greensboro, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews.
His first wife, Reba Satterfield, and his parents, William Satterfield and Serena Loftis Satterfield, preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Satterfield will be held at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 3 p.m. with the Revs. Steve Dyer and Michael Allen officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, from 2 to 3 p.m. and other times at the home.
