Mrs. Beulah Carter Compton of Hurt and formerly of Chester passed away on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at her home in Hurt.
She was born in Georgetown, S.C. on Oct. 28, 1935 and was 77 years old. She was the daughter of the late John Carter and Isabel Goins Carter and was married to the late Chester Sampson Compton.
She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Chester and was attending Grace Community Church in Altavista.
She is survived by four daughters, Roxie Ann Evans of Florence, S.C., Vickie C. Winfield and husband David of Hurt, Nancy Creel and husband Roosevelt of Charleston, S.C., Cathy C. Parker and husband Robert of Latta, S.C.; one son, Danny Ray Griffin, of Asheville, N.C.; one step-son, Dewey Compton, and wife Valerie of South Boston; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Ligon Family Cemetery at Scottsburg with the Rev. Rodney Jenkins officiating.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon.
