Mrs. Virginia Dixon Hightower of Chatham Road, Vernon Hill died Dec. 23, 2012 at the age of 76.
Mrs. Hightower was born in Halifax County on April 5, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Mr. Lewis Edgar Dixon and Mrs. Obelia Bennett Dixon. She was married to the late Mr. Obrey Hightower and was a member of County Line Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hightower is survived by four daughters, Ms. Aldora Martins of Jersey City, N.J., Miss Barbara Ann Hightower of White Plains, N.Y., Dr. Virginia Gail Sargent and husband Michael of Ft. Washington, Md., and Miss Charlotte Hightower of Vernon Hill; three sons, Mr. Charlie Herbert Hightower of Richmond, Mr. Aubrey Junior Hightower of Vernon Hill and Mr. Willie Grayson Hightower and wife Audrey of Easton, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one aunt, Mrs. Flossie Hendricks; two uncles, Mr. Thomas Dixon and Mr. William Dixon; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hightower was preceded in death by one son, Gary Louis Hightower.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at noon at County Line Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Otis Dillard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at The Crawford House chapel in Halifax on Friday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 and other times at the residence, 10188 Chatham Road, Vernon Hill.
