Mrs. Blanche Cousins Coles of 4106 Lennig Road, Nathalie died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 87.
Mrs. Coles was born in Halifax County on June 8, 1925 to the late Mr. William Riley Cousins and Mrs. Mildred Collins Cousins. She was married to the late Mr. James Richard Callie Coles and was a member of Bethel Grove Baptist Church in Clover.
Mrs. Blanche Cousins Coles is survived by two daughters, Ms. Blanche Virginia Allen of Alexandria and Mrs. Gloria Coles Carden and husband Jerome of Richmond; seven sons, Mr. James Evans Coles and wife Marion of Alexandra, Mr. Arthur Lee Coles and wife JoAnn of Lorton, Mr. George Fred Coles and wife Lottie of Clinton, Md., Mr. Marvin Louis Coles, Mr. Steve Allen Coles and Mr. Curtis Lorenzo Coles and wife Martha, all of Nathalie, and Mr. Larry Walter Coles of District Heights, Md.; one sister, Ms. Daisy Chandler of Nathalie; one brother, Mr. Jesse J. Cousins of Clover; 20 grandchildren including the devoted Ms. Virginia Marlene Coles of Nathalie; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Coles was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services for Mrs. Blanche Cousins Coles will be Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at The Crawford House chapel in Halifax, and the family is receiving friends at the residence, 4106 Lennig Road, Nathalie.
