Mrs. Eunice Satterfield Ridgeway of Halifax died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Woodview Nursing Home.
She was born in Halifax County on Feb. 17, 1933 and was 79 years old. She was the daughter of the late David Satterfield and Mary Forlines Satterfield and was married to Roy T. Ridgeway Jr. who survives.
Mrs. Ridgeway was a member of Halifax Baptist Church and American Legion Post 8 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Mark David Ridgeway, of Greenville, Ohio; one daughter, Mae Beth Ridgeway Smith, of Greenville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel Thomas Ridgeway, Dawn Bowen Betts, Christopher James Bowen, Jamie Lee Ridgeway, Jeremy Ray Ridgeway, Julie Renee Ridgeway and John Thomas Ridgeway; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred S. Seamster, of Halifax; and a number of nieces and nephews.
One son, Larry Thomas Ridgeway; one grandson, Jason David Ridgeway; three brothers, Buck Satterfield, Ed Satterfield and Kenneth Satterfield; seven sisters, Louise Reeves, Mamie Landrum, Jake Richardson, Evelyn Hudson, Grace Tanksley, Nita Holland and Frances Foster, also preceded Mrs. Ridgeway in death.
Funeral services will be held at Halifax Baptist Church on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Eddie Collins, Mark Ridgeway and Mike McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Friday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home, 3166 Ball Park Loop Road, Halifax.
