Mrs. Thelma Martha Wilson, 83, widow of James Henry Wilson Sr., passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.
Mrs. Wilson was born July 11, 1925 in Halifax County to the late Asa Jerry Wilson and Emma Sue Long. Thelma retired from Burlington Industries after 10 years of service. Prior to this, she had worked at Russell Stover.
Mrs. Wilson married James Henry Wilson of Virgilina on Dec. 9, 1941 at Florence Avenue Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her sisters, Zuline Lowery of Virgilina, Cecil Tuck of Virgilina, Virginia Cumbie of South Boston and Nancy Young of Virgilina; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Henry Caudle of Virgilina and Sandra and David Wilbourne of Skipwith; son and daughter-in-law James Henry Jr. and Bonnie Wilson of Virgilina; brother C. J. Wilson of Virgilina. Six grandchildren, Heath Wilson, Lori Grant, Adam Wilbourne, Kevin Caudle, Dan Wilbourne and Sarah Bowen, and 15 great-grandchildren also survive. Her sisters, Lois Wilson and Shirley Ann Carmichael, predeceased Mrs. Wilson.
The family received friends Sunday night from 7 until 9 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, Clarksville. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at Florence Avenue Baptist Church, Virgilina with the Rev. Mike Riley and the Rev. Allen Boggs officiating. Interment followed at Virgilina cemetery.
