James Aster Reagan Sr. of Alton, died peacefully at home Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at the age of 71 years old.
He was the son of the late Luther Merritt Reagan Sr. and Hester Whitt Reagan.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Armstead Reagan, Luther Reagan Jr., Onard Reagan, Billy Reagan and Ruby Reagan; and two sons, Jerry Ray Reagan and Bobby Reagan.
Mr. Reagan is survived by his brother, Tincy Reagan, and wife Mary Ann of Alton; three daughters, Pamela R. Griffin and husband Dwayne of Oxford, N.C., Penny R. Treloar and husband Jason of South Boston and Sally Ann Reagan Adkins and husband Keith of Chatham; and son James Aster Reagan Jr. of South Boston; 11 grandchildren, Dirik Snead Sr., Robert Griffin, Jessica Holt Hamlett, Edward Griffin, Brittany McCraw Coursey, Jeremy Holt, LeAnne Griffin Wilson, Corey Holt, Shelby Reagan, James “Jim” Regan III, Chaley Reagan; and three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Martin, Jay Treloar and Ridge Adkins; five great-grandchildren and a special aunt, Shirley Jean Whitt Conner.
Mr. Reagan was baptized on Feb. 26, 2012 and was an active member of Tungsten Baptist Church. He was also a self-employed auto mechanic.
The family received friends Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Watkins-Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville at 2 p.m. with a memorial service that followed in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. with Pastor Sam Brewer officiating.
